THE MISSOURI FOX TROTTING HORSE-A gaited horse with special disposition
The Missouri Fox Trotting Horse is the trail horse # 1 in the US; it is nicknamed “Cowboy Cadillac” and “Cowboy Rolls Royce”. In 2002 the Missouri Fox Trotter was declared the official State Horse in Missouri.
What distinguish the Fox Trotter from other gaited horses? When other gaited horses are showing the lateral four beat, such as the Running Walk, Single Foot, Amble and lateral Mutation the Missouri Fox Trotter goes the Fox Trot, a diagonal four beat gait, a broken trot. Most gaited horses belong to the Toelt-Family but not so the Missouri Fox Trotter.
